While In my 90 hour Arizona Real Estate  Course,  I began to  learn about  the. process of foreclosure .  After learning more about the process I was surprised  that there are millions of homes that get foreclosed in Sheriff tax sales.  In those sales when a bidder pays more than the taxes owed these are known as surplus funds and should be given to the rightful owner. Millions of people do not know that are owed this surplus or the steps to get it.

The problem is that if the rightful owner does not claim the funds within a certain amount of time the government will take back the funds owed through a process called Escheat.

You may ask well why wouldn’t the government reach out to me about these funds? Well it’s because there is no incentive for the government to try and locate claimants.
